GCSE English Language (re-sit)
Sandbach College
Why study this course?
If you did not gain a pass grade in your initial attempt, a Grade 4 or above will maximise your chances of successfully entering further study/career choices. It is also important to remember that this course covers a range of reading and writing styles, all of which are important for the rest of our lives.
If you did achieve a pass grade, but wish to improve your grade to access specific university courses or employment opportunities, this is a great way to do it. In the past, we have had several students ‘convert’ grades 4, 5 or 6 to 7s, 8s and 9s by November of Year 12.
What will I learn on this course?
In English Language re-sit lessons; you will work in small, focused groups with two teachers, each focusing on key aspects of the AQA course that you studied in Year 10 and 11. We cover the Reading and Writing sections in equal depth, to maximise your chances of achieving the grades that you are capable of.
Examinations & Coursework
Paper 1: 50%, Paper 2: 50%
If you completed your Spoken Language assessment in Year 11, you do not need to do this again.
Potential career paths
A grade 4 or above (or your desired grade if you are looking to improve on a previous pass) will open up a variety of career and study opportunities in your chosen area(s) of interest.
